Our picture perfect wine barrel is a 15 minute drive from Blenheim, only 10 minutes from the airport and has all you need for a comfortable stay.
 
Piwakawaka is the Maori word for a fantail. This lovely bird is well known for its friendly ‘cheet cheet’ call and energetic flying swoops. It is an often spotted companion at the end of the summer season. We are lucky enough to have the rare black fantails in our garden (they make up 5% of the south island population)
 
This barrel is tucked in between colourful flower beds, apple, nectarine & fig trees and our oil producing olive grove.
There is a lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy the garden and the birds.

It has a double bed, a wardrobe and a comfy living area with sofa, dining table, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a toaster. There is a shared fridge to keep your wine and snacks cool. There are no cooking facilities.

There is a fan and a heater for warmer and cooler nights. There is a private, hot outdoor shower by the barrel under the trees, this is available during the warmer months. You have access to a modern indoor bathroom and shower if you prefer. It is located at the back of our house and approx. 25m away from our Piwakawaka Barrel and is a shared space only between the two barrels.
